Things to Consider for Tattoo Placement

When you are considering the placement of your new tattoo, you will want to take several things into consideration.

You will want to consider your career. Decide if your current or possible future jobs will require your tattoo to be visible. If you may have a problem with your job if you have a visible tattoo, then it would be a good idea to consider getting your tattoo on a place where it can be easily hidden by your clothing.

Another thing to consider is the pain involved with receiving a tattoo in certain areas and your pain tolerance level. Although it is true that everyone handles tattoos differently, it’s also true that some places tend to be more painful to the majority of people. If you have a very low pain threshold, then you may want to stay away from some of the more commonly painful areas. The areas that many people claim to be more painful for tattoos are the foot, spine, pelvic region, inside of the wrist, stomach, and rib cage.

If you have any stretch marks, this is an area that you may want to stay away from getting a tattoo on. Stretch marks are very thin skin and this makes them extremely painful to have tattooed. Also, since stretch marks are torn skin, the ink can do odd things. Many people find that their tattoos become blurred in the areas of their stretch marks.

If you are getting a small tattoo right now, think long and hard about whether or not you will want to add more to it later. Many people get a small tattoo and later add on and make it bigger. If you may want to add on to it at a later date then you will want to make sure that you have it put in a place where you can expand on it at a later date.

Listen to your tattoo artist’s point of view about tattoo placement. They are professionals and have done many tattoos. They can give you really good advice on where a tattoo should be l=placed. So, ask them their opinion before you decide and listen to what they have to say. Ultimately it’s your decision, but you should consider their opinions.
